Purpose of Statement

Purpose of Statement: the purpose of this site is for educators and investigators in bilingual education to evaluate how language brokering practices affect parents' adaptation processed to American mainstream culture in South Texas. Bilingual children, placed between two linguistics worlds (Orellana, 2009), translate or interpret in a wide range of daily situations for parents and other family members who have limited English proficiency (Baker, 2006; Corona, Stevens, Halfond, Shaffer, Reid-Quinones, & Gonzalez, 2012; De Jong, 2011). I so doing, they become intermediary agents of mainstream cultural elements.
